GENERAL
Board of Directors elections are conducted pursuant to Article 8 of US Club Soccer’s bylaws and the procedures on this page.
The Regional Board Director seats up for election in 2025 are:
- East Region: Kevin James
- Midwest Region: Mike Sweeney
- South Region: Mo Gonda
- West Region: Eddie Henderson
The four Regional Board Directors to be elected in 2025 will serve three-year terms, commencing on April 1, 2025 (31 days after the 2025 U.S. Soccer Annual General Meeting).
TIMELINE
General:
- Jan 31, 2025: Candidacy application available.
- Feb 10, 2025 (11:59 p.m. ET): Deadline for submission of candidacy applications.
- On or before Feb 17, 2025: Candidates confirmed. Candidates will be emailed a list of voting clubs in their respective region, and a biography and statement will be requested for inclusion with the ballot.
- Feb 24, 2025 (11:59 p.m. ET): Deadline for candidates to submit biography and statement for inclusion with ballot.
- Mar 3, 2025 (11:59 p.m. ET): Email ballot, and candidate biographies and statements, to voting clubs. Voting begins.
- Mar 13, 2025 (11:59 p.m. ET): Deadline for submission of ballot. Voting ends.
- Mar 14, 2025: Count votes and confirm elected Regional Board Directors.
- Apr 1, 2025: Terms commence for elected Regional Board Directors.
Runoff, if necessary:
- Mar 17, 2025: Run-off ballots available / distributed. Voting begins.
- Mar 24, 2025 (11:59 p.m. ET): Deadline for submission of run-off ballots. Voting ends.
- Mar 25, 2025: Count run-off votes and confirm elected Regional Board Directors.
- Apr 1, 2025: Terms commence for elected Regional Board Directors.
CANDIDACY
Qualifications:
Pursuant to Bylaw 8.3.2, to qualify as a Regional Board Director candidate, the following requirements must be satisfied:
- The prospective candidate must be in a leadership position with high-level decision-making authority at a member Club; and
- The prospective candidate must have at least five years of experience coaching competitive youth soccer, as the term “competitive” is at that time defined by the Bylaws or Policies; and
- The prospective candidate must have attained at least a U.S. Soccer B coaching license, or its international or US Club Soccer equivalent; and
- The prospective candidate must be in compliance with US Club Soccer bylaws and policies; and
- The prospective candidate’s Club shall have registered with US Club Soccer a minimum of eight (8) teams in the current registration year.
Declaring candidacy:
Qualified individuals who wish to run for a Regional Board Director seat shall submit the following application no later than Feb 10, 2025 at 11:59 p.m. ET.
VOTING
Eligibility:
US Club Soccer competitive member clubs in good standing that have registered a minimum number of three teams by the ballot submission deadline (Mar 13, 2025) are eligible to vote. Each of these clubs shall have one vote for each Regional Board Director seat within its region. Adult, Association and Affiliate Members (such as leagues, league teams and tournament teams, and rec and academy members) are not eligible to vote.
Ballots / Voting:
Voting will begin Mar 3, 2025. Online ballots will be available via this web page and may also be requested by emailing BODelections@usclubsoccer.org. To be valid, ballots shall be submitted no later than 11:59 p.m. ET on Mar 13, 2025 by an individual who is part of the club’s leadership (such as a president, executive or director) and registered/eligible as a US Club Soccer staff registrant with the club. If multiple ballots from the same club are received, the first valid ballot received will be counted. US Club Soccer shall have the right to request identity verification if questions arise and to allow email submission of ballots on a case-by-case basis.
