PROTECTING YOUNG VICTIMS FROM SEXUAL ABUSE AND SAFE SPORT AUTHORIZATION ACT OF 2017:
On Feb. 14, 2018, the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017 was signed into law and became effective immediately. The legislation is available for download here.

CALIFORNIA – ASSEMBLY BILL NO. 2007:
As of Jan. 1, 2017, the state of California passed Assembly Bill No. 2007 – legislation related to concussions. California members are required to comply.
Among other aspects, this bill requires that youth sports organizations notify parents/guardians of athletes 17 years of age or younger who have been removed from athletic activities due to suspected concussions. The bill also requires that youth sports organizations offer concussion and head injury education or related educational materials.

OHIO – LINDSAY’S LAW:
Lindsay’s Law, Ohio Revised Code 3313.5310, 3707.58 and 3707.59 went into effect in 2017 – legislation related to sudden cardiac arrest. Ohio members are required to comply.
In accordance with this law, the Ohio Department of Health, the Ohio Department of Education, the Ohio High School Athletic Association, the Ohio Chapter of the American College of Cardiology and other organizations developed guidelines and other materials to inform and educate students and youth athletes, parents and coaches about the nature and warning signs of sudden cardiac arrest.
