Yellowstone Premier League qualifies teams to 2022 NPL postseason

CHARLESTON, S.C. (April 13, 2022) – The Yellowstone Premier League, in its second year, has qualified six girls teams and six boys teams from U-13 through U-19 age groups to this summer’s NPL postseason. Utah Surf claimed three titles (Boys U-13, U-15 and U-18/19), while a trio of clubs balanced the leaderboards with two titles apiece – Blue Knights Premier (Girls U-17 and U-18/19), CO Elevation FC Summit (Girls U-13 and U-15), and Northern United Utah Royalty Falslev (Boys, U-14 and U-16).

The six qualifying girls teams will head directly to the 2022 NPL Finals, July 7-11 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Denver, CO. The U-14 through U-17 boys qualifiers will face a two-stage competition, next competing in the NPL Boys West Playoffs with ultimate aspirations of the NPL Finals. The U-13 boys will see their postseason end at NPL West Playoffs, where a champion will be crowned. The U-18/19 boys division is a single-stage competition, as well, with that qualifier competing at the NPL Finals.

“We are excited to have the Northern Utah United ’08 Royalty Boys and ’06 Royalty Boys return to NPL playoffs for the second year in a row,” said Jeff Ginn, Club Director for Northern Utah United. “We are confident that last year’s experience – combined with their continued dedication to play an effective and enjoyable style of soccer – will have them prepared to represent Northern Utah United and the Yellowstone Premier League during the competition.”

“We are very excited to have three teams qualify for the NPL postseason,” added Utah Surf Club Director Blaine Hale. “We are fortunate to compete in the Yellowstone Premier League, and we’re excited to see what the future holds for the league. Our teams are looking forward to representing in June for the chance to compete at the NPL Finals in July.”

“CO Elevation FC U13 and U15 teams advancing to the NPL Finals is a great accomplishment for our players, coaches and club,” said Marc Ashouri, Club Director of Colorado Elevation FC. “Every effort, determination and commitment has solidified Elevation’s accomplishments thus far. Our goal is to continue developing players as we embrace small successes, game-by-game, during the course of this tournament. The NPL Finals is the highest level of competition, and our players are looking forward to the challenge and competition ahead.”

“Our road to the finals was tedious and difficult, since we never had the entire team healthy or available to compete,” said Martin Villegas, Blue Knights Premier Club Director.. “Our qualification was decided at our last game when our team was down 3-0 by halftime. The girls worked hard one step at a time, until they tied the game with one second left in the game. When everything seems impossible, that’s the moment we decide if it is possible.”
