Player roster

CHARLESTON, S.C. (March 30, 2022) – Thirty-two boys players from 12 clubs in the Northeast participated in an id2 Selection event, March 27 at PDA Soccer Complex in Somerset, N.J. id2 Selection programming supplements scouting efforts for upcoming id2 Training Camps. Next month, two id2 Training Camps will close out the current age cycle targeting boys born in 2008 and girls born in 2007, which has been abbreviated due to COVID-19 health protocols.

During the event, players participated in a dynamic warmup, small-sided technical session and an 11v11 game. Gerry McKeown, id2 Boys Director, led activities and was supported by top coaches in the region: Jamie Scott (Penn Fusion), Ray Selvadurai (Manhattan SC), Tom Shields (STA) and Tyler Stakiwicz (PDA). U.S. Soccer scout Dietmar Mertel was also in attendance. US Club Soccer VP of Competitions and NPL General Manager Leo Garcia was on-site to oversee the event.

id2 Selection events are regionally based identification and development programs first introduced last year. Standouts earn invitations to upcoming id2 Training Camps, which are multi-day programs with more players from a broader geographical scope. Next month marks the long-awaited return of id2 Training Camps:

  • April 22-24 in Davis, CA
  • April 29-May 1 in Richmond, VA

For this particular id2 Selection event in New Jersey, top performers will be invited to the latter camp in Virginia. The player pools for both camps primarily come from the 10 id2 Selection events held last year, in addition to supplemental scouting efforts led by id2 directors Gerry McKeown (boys) and Tricia Taliaferro (girls). Stay tuned for coverage of these camps.
