KANSAS CITY (Dec. 8, 2021) – Following two weekends of competition, the 2021 US Club Soccer Central States Cup, hosted by Sporting Kansas City Youth, crowned 27 total champions and 22 earned qualification to 2022 National Cup XXI, US Club Soccer’s cup-based championship series.

The Central States Cup, which was hosted at Compass Minerals Sporting Fields and Swope Soccer Village, featured two levels of competition, Super Group (most competitive) and Premier Group, for U11 through U18/19 girls and boys play. Winners from each division for the U13 to U18/U-19 girls and boys age groups earned direct qualification to US Club Soccer’s National Cup XXI Midwest Regionals, which will take place June 17-20, 2022, in Chicago.

The tournament was split into two weekends of action. The first weekend took place Nov. 5-7, 2021, which featured U11-U14 boys and U11-U18/19 girls competition. The final weekend featured the remaining boys games for the U15-U18/19 age groups on Dec. 3-5, 2021.

“Our team at Sporting Kansas City enjoyed working with US Club Soccer to host Central States Cup this year”, said Alec Smith, Tournament Director with Sporting Kansas City Youth. “We were able to bring together exciting matchups and host quality teams from around the region, providing them a unique tournament experience. KCSG led the way with 13 total titles across boys and girls competitions at the Central States Cup. KC Fusion Academy came in second with six total titles over the two weekends. Additionally, KC Athletics Academy and Sporting Wichita each won two total championships, while teams from Overland Park Academy, Sporting Missouri Valley and Colorado Rapids all claimed a championship.
