NPL success in the Northeast continues, updates from leagues across the region

US Club Soccer is proud to highlight the growth and success it has seen in its National Premier Leagues (NPL) in the Northeast region, particularly over the past year.

The current NPL member leagues have continued to gain strength in the market. Recently, several leagues have renewed their sanctioning agreements, entered into new sanctioning agreements or returned to US Club Soccer after a short stint competing under other sanctioning bodies.

Among the highlights:

  • New England Premiership (NEP). In January, the New England Premiership, which has been a US Club Soccer member NPL since 2014, renewed their sanctioning agreement stating that the ‘league has flourished over the years with US Club Soccer’s support and guidance’.
  • Pennsylvania Regional Club League (PRCL). The Pennsylvania Regional Club League joined US Club Soccer as an NPL member league beginning with the 2020-21 season. The league entered competition with an impressive list of founding clubs, and US Club Soccer is excited to watch the league’s success in the seasons to come.
  • New England Impact NPL. The Northeast region welcomed the New England Impact NPL to the NPL competitive landscape for the 2020-21 season. The league was formed as a result of clubs looking to return to US Club Soccer’s platform.

The level of competition US Club Soccer’s 21 NPL member leagues have provided their members has steadily increased over the years, and nearly 400 clubs across the country now participate in the competition platform with clubs and leagues consistently looking to join the platform.

In addition to the success in the Northeast, the NPL recently made massive strides in the Southern California region, sanctioning the Southern California Soccer League (SoCal) which boasts tens of thousands of members and some of the strongest, most competitive clubs in the country.

The sudden pause on competition, and the world, over the past year allowed US Club Soccer the opportunity to further analyze the market and develop a meaningful platform for the region. Currently, US Club Soccer is working to create a club-based NPL for the New York metropolitan area beginning with the 2021-22 season.

Clubs interested in participating in NPL competition in the New York metropolitan area are encouraged to fill out this form or contact Sr. Membership Service Manager Mike Gould at mgould@usclubsoccer.org or call (732) 564-4440.

We encourage previous NPL members to reach out to us and return to the NPL experience.
