Looking to enhance your agility on the pitch and evade defenders? The Dribbling Maze drill is a great way to help improve ball control and learn to dodge defenders. An added bonus — it’s something you can do on your own at home.
To set up the drill, you’ll need:
Randomly set up the cones in a five by five-yard area. Using a tennis ball, dribble through the maze in a random pattern without touching any of the cones.
Once you’ve successfully gone through the maze with a tennis ball, swap it out for a size one soccer ball. Using a larger ball will add a level of difficulty, making the drill more challenging. Continue to focus on your dribbling technique and ball control as you move through the maze.
Once you’ve navigated the maze with a size one ball, it’s time to move up to a regulation-size ball. It’s important to continue to challenge yourself as you work toward the goal of bobbing and weaving through defenders come game day.
