Q: Why did Kernow Storm FC first apply for Players First licensing?

Antony Penna, Director of Soccer Operations & Director of Coaching: We felt that Players First is an industry leading and prestigious license that helps current and future parents know our club’s emphasis is not only developing players but also educating parents, supporting coaches through continued coaching education and creating a positive environment for our families and players to reach their maximum potential. US Club Soccer is the leader in setting the standard for clubs, and we wanted to show our community that we can also set the standard through this license that holds us accountable to the Players First standards.

Q: What does it mean for Kernow Storm FC to now be an official Players First-licensed club?

Penna: It’s very important to us and a testament to all the hard work our staff, volunteers and members put in to continue raising our standards. The Players First recognition aligns us with like-minded clubs across the nation and validates our commitment and dedication to our culture and core values. By becoming a Players First-licensed club, we will continue to raise the standards for our coaches and staff to provide our players, families and community with a first-class soccer club that provides the best all-around experience.

Q: What makes Players First licensing different from other initiatives or programs your club has participated in?

Penna: Players First is the most in-depth assessment of club processes. Most recognition comes from game performance, but this recognition demonstrates the hard work and dedication behind the scenes that leaves a larger impact on our mission and core values.

Q: What would you like the parents of Kernow Storm FC to know about what this means to them?

Penna: The Players First license demonstrates the club’s commitment to going above and beyond to do the right things to help our players reach their true potential when engaging in our programs, which have sustainable long-term methods. We are a club with a holistic approach with the long term goal of providing the best environment for our players to maximize and excel in player development.
