Q: Why did Roseville Youth Soccer Club apply for Players First licensing?

Scott Millsap, Director of Community Outreach, Sponsorship & Public Relations:  Putting player development as the #1 priority of the club has always been at the forefront of everything that we have tried to do at Roseville Youth Soccer Club (RYSC).  Being formally part of the Players First community gives us access to resources and best practices outside of the Roseville area that help us meet that stated goal and hold ourselves to the highest standard possible.

Q: What does it mean for Roseville Youth Soccer Club to now be an official Players First-licensed club?

Millsap:  RYSC is the largest youth soccer organization in Northern California and the only one we know about that has a Players First license for both our competitive and recreational parts of the club.  It’s a true honor to be recognized for the focus placed on making sure the kids develop regardless of wins and losses.  The program also provides us with access to best practices from the greatest clubs in North America where we can share lessons learned and be on the tip of the spear for new development techniques.

Q: What makes Players First licensing different from other initiatives or programs your club has participated in?

Millsap: RYSC is an all volunteer-led organization including our Board of Directors and all coaching staff which also makes us one of the most affordable clubs available.  The Players First licensing canonizes our commitment to the philosophies of providing the youth with a holistic approach, continued education, open communication, and favoring long-term interests of the players in all that we do.  This sets a roadmap and playbook for all of our volunteers to follow as we help the youth in our charge grow and develop. 

Q: What would you like the parents of Roseville Youth Soccer Club to know about what this means to them?

Millsap:  I would want the parents of RYSC to know that we put the best interest of their children first in everything that we do.  We are committed to providing the best experience possible to help their child grow into an active & confident adult regardless of the wins and losses on the field.  This commitment to the Players First philosophy and continually learning the best practices ensure we are there with you all the way through.
