Q: Why did Walnut Creek Surf Soccer Club apply for Players First licensing?

Steve Chappell, General Manager: The Players First licensing initiative is nationally recognized, highly respected and aligns really well with our club.  We’re always looking to improve and felt the Players First licensing initiative would be great for our club.  

Q: What does it mean Walnut Creek Surf Soccer Club to now be an official Players First-licensed club?

Chappell: We’re excited and honored to be recognized as a Players First-licensed club! The process to get to this point was a great exercise and testimony to the criteria set forth by Players First. Players First has improved our club already with the application process and we’re eager to continue the momentum forward as our club seeks to improve in all five pillars.

Q: What makes Players First licensing different from other initiatives or programs your club has participated in?

Chappell:  We value all of our club’s relationships locally, regionally and nationally, but Players First licensing is a US Club Soccer program so the national recognition makes this program unique.  

Q: What would you like the parents of Walnut Creek Surf Soccer Club to know about what this means to them?

Chappell: Becoming a Players First-licensed club is quite an accomplishment given the rigorous standards that have to be met to be accepted.  Our club’s mission statement aligns well with the five pillars of Players First and we look forward to the many resources now available to us in order to develop, improve, educate and keep players safe.
