(Feb. 7, 2025) – The Chesapeake Premier Soccer League, consisting of 10 member clubs in Maryland and D.C., will join the National Premier Leagues (NPL) platform beginning this fall for the 2025-26 season. The NPL, which formed in 2011, is a nationwide platform connecting 18 regional leagues and more than 2,500 teams with a national postseason pathway. Chesapeake Premier Soccer League participants not only gain access to the established NPL platform, but they also receive a suite of resources and programming, such as player identification via id2 and PDP, safety and risk management standards, cup-based competitions and the National Cup, coach education courses and support, and more.

“On behalf of the clubs in the Chesapeake area, we are all very excited to get this new league moving forward to serve the membership, including the players, coaches, families and referees,” said Tim Ryerson, Chesapeake Premier Soccer League President.
Chesapeake Premier Soccer League participating teams will compete for qualification to the NPL Finals, held every summer in Denver, Colorado, where qualifiers compete against other regional NPL member leagues throughout the country for championships. The NPL’s vision is to serve youth soccer by forming and collaborating with leagues, adopting the Players First philosophy and supporting US Club Soccer’s mission to foster the development of clubs.
“The Chesapeake Premier Soccer League is a strong addition to the NPL landscape,” said Alfonso Motagalvan, NPL General Manager. “It complements the nearby Mid-Atlantic Premier League, Virginia Premier Soccer League and Great Lakes Alliance, and ensures quality competition without large travel burdens on families – a core value of the NPL.”
