US Club Soccer & leagues to host more U.S. Soccer ‘B’ courses in 2025

Priority registration opens next week

CHARLESTON, S.C. (Oct. 10, 2024) – US Club Soccer and its members will host seven U.S. Soccer ‘B’ coach licensing courses in the first half of 2025 with more courses to be hosted in the latter months of the year. By the end of 2024, US Club Soccer and member leagues will have co-hosted 13 ‘B’ courses throughout the country. This is the first year that U.S. Soccer extended hosting abilities to members.

Priority registration to the ‘B’ courses opens October 14 for US Club Soccer-registered coaches. Interested coaches should check emails regularly as US Club Soccer member leagues will be sending registration links to the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. After one week, the registration pages become fully public until all spots are filled. All the spring courses follow the same timeline with virtual starts on January 6, two sets of 4-day in-person meetings in March and May, and a virtual close on June 21.

Additional ‘B’ courses will be hosted July-December and announced at a later date.

Coaches wishing to take the ‘B’ course must meet the eligibility criteria for the course, be committed to completing the 120+ hours of coursework, which includes virtual meetings and two in-person meetings, as well as coach an age-appropriate team (U-13+) for the entirety of the course. Coaches are required to attend all sessions of the course, therefore, when searching the available courses, coaches are strongly encouraged to review the complete course schedule listed in each individual course description before registering.

Coaches who think they may be eligible for a waiver into the ‘B’ course based on international coaching licenses or professional playing experience must review the waiver FAQs document via the U.S. Soccer Learning Center. The document contains the instructions for the waiver process. US Club Soccer does not process waivers for courses.

US Club Soccer offers multiple stages of a coach’s licensing pathway, beginning with grassroots and progressing through ‘D,’ ‘C’ and now ‘B’ licenses. It also facilitates off-the-field developmental opportunities and resources for coaches, including complimentary curriculum from WeCOACH, Coaching HER,  Onrise Care and Aiberry that help make the game more accessible for girls and women in sports and offer mental health support specifically for coaches.

U.S. Soccer ‘B’ courses are the highest level of technical coach education US Club Soccer offers. It is considered among the “Pro Pathway” of U.S. Soccer’s coach licensing pathway, and as such, coach candidates are prepped to work with youth (U-13+) or senior teams in a performance environment. Course goals include applying and evaluating team and player development related to a game model, as well as analyzing, evaluating and optimizing the learning environment for the team and individual players.
