CHARLESTON, S.C. (Feb. 1, 2023) – Registration is open for the 2023 Minnesota Cup, US Club Soccer’s state championship event for U-11 through U-19 boys and girls teams in Minnesota and surrounding states. The tournament will be held May 31-June 4 at top facilities in the Twin Cities metro area.

The Minnesota Cup has nearly tripled its tournament field over the past three years, welcoming 193 teams in 2022. Twin Cities Soccer Leagues, the host organization of the US Club Soccer-sanctioned event, expects the total number of participating teams to again exceed the previous year’s total.

While the quantity of teams offers Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota competitors an opportunity to play a variety of teams with minimal travel, the quality of the Minnesota Cup tournament field is also strong. The St. Paul Blackhawks won the U-15 boys Super Group at the National Cup XXI Finals this past summer after qualifying through the Minnesota Cup. Other Minnesota Cup winners made deep runs at the National Cup Finals, as well.

There are two competitive levels offered at the Minnesota Cup: Super Group (most competitive) and Premier Group. Super Group winners of U-13 through U-19 boys and girls divisions earn qualification to the National Cup XXII Finals, to be held July 15-22 in Denver, Colorado. Premier Group winners of U-13 through U-19 boys and girls divisions earn entry to the National Cup XXII Midwest Regional, June 16-19 in Chicago.

Twin Cities Soccer Leagues continues to prioritize efforts to support, increase and retain quality referees, of which events in the region, such as the Minnesota Cup benefit.
