Five clubs secure 2022 Virginia State Cup championships, berths to National Cup XXI Finals

CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 14, 2022) – The 2022 Virginia State Cup concluded with five clubs earning advancement to the National Cup XXI Finals next month in Denver, Colorado. The state tournament spanned several months, as U-11 through U-19 boys and girls teams throughout Virginia progressed through play-in games, semifinals and finals.

The Virginia State Cup is hosted annually by the Virginia Premier League. Great Falls Reston earned the most hardware, clinching titles at nearly every age group: U-13 girls, U-14 boys, U-15 boys, U-16 girls and U-18/19 girls. VA Legacy was not far behind, corralling the older boys divisions: U-16, U-17 and U-18/19.

Virginia State Cup champions are perennial contenders at the National Cup Finals. Both Great Falls Reston and VSA won championships at last year’s National Cup XX Finals in Colorado. View all past champions here.
