Great Lakes Alliance NPL Division qualifies 12 teams to 2022 NPL postseason

CHARLESTON, S.C. (June 14, 2022) – The Great Lakes Alliance NPL Division has qualified its top boys and girls teams to the 2022 NPL East Playoffs and NPL Finals, respectively. In total, 12 teams emerged as league champions after a strong regular season that culminated with the GLA Playoffs, June 4-5 at the Hall of Fame Sports Complex in Canton, Ohio.

Among the league’s NPL Division winners are clubs familiar to success in the area, including the 2022 Ohio State Cup, in which several clubs have enjoyed both league-based and cup-based success this season. The field of NPL postseason qualifiers from the GLA features tremendous parity with no club winning more than one division.

The six qualifying girls teams will head directly to the 2022 NPL Finals, July 7-11 at DICK’S Sporting Goods Park in Denver, CO. The U-14 through U-17 boys qualifiers face a two-stage competition, next competing in the NPL Boys East Playoffs with ultimate aspirations of the NPL Finals. The U-13 boys will see their postseason end at NPL East Playoffs, where a champion is crowned. The U-18/19 boys division is a single-stage competition, as well, with that qualifier competing at the NPL Finals.

The Great Lakes Alliance’s Premier Division also has a postseason pathway. The winners of those U-13 through U-18/19 age groups earn complimentary entry to the National Cup XXI Midwest Regional:
